  Becoming a BT Volunteer

What you could be doing?

How is BT Volunteers organised?

What commitment is required?

What benefits are there?

What is the process once registered?

How do I register?

So you’ve decided to get involved in voluntary work – what happens next? First you need to discuss it with your line manager, but once you’ve agreed it with them it’s really simple – just click the Register button and you will be taken to a registration form where we need to take some basic contact information.

It’s easy, you choose the Club you want to join and submit the form. If you would like to join more than one club please wait until you have received notification that you have been accepted into your first choice, and then go to your personal details page and enrol for other clubs. Please note: you must have access to an e-mail account to become a BT Volunteer as this is the main form of communication used, along with the website.

For those of you interested in registering for one of the London 2012 schemes, click on Register and fill out the details. NOTE: Select 'BT London 2012' from the 'All Locations' dropdown box then select the appropriate theme.

There are five themes to choose from, or you can select more than one:

1. Olympics - Arts & Culture
2. Olympics - Coaching and Mentoring
3. Olympics - Green & Environment
4. Olympics - Sport
5. Olympics - Youth and Education

By registering as a London 2012 volunteer you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in a host of different activities over the next four years leading up to Games time. For example, those in the Youth and Education club might find themselves going into a local school to teach communication skills using Olympic messages to bring the topic to life, whilst those in the Sport club might be able to develop sport at grass roots level in their local community.

We’d also like to hear from you, so if you have any suggestions for getting involved in volunteering around the five London 2012 themes we’d love to hear them – please contact Jo Baxter, head of internal engagement for London 2012 - jo.baxter@bt.com

Good Luck, thank you and enjoy your experiences.
